Busy Weekend

First off, let me start by apologizing for my absence. I have had a lot going on with Pearl since she has been diagnosed with lymphoma. She is doing relatively well, considering we opted not to pursue chemotherapy. I took her last week to see the traditional and holistic veterinarians. The conventional vet put her on an appetite stimulant and anti-nausea medication, as she is not eating her regular food. She only wants the baby food. And holistically, we are hoping to slow or decrease the tumor that has appeared on her left submandibular lymph node. It is about the size of half a golf ball. We are using two Chinese herbs, a mix of mushrooms, acupuncture, and weekly vitamin B-12 injections as her therapy. Sometimes, less is more. She reacted very well to the first treatment.

Yesterday, I spent all day quilting a baby quilt for a friend’s grandson, who I believe is making his debut sometime in August. I attached the binding, but I still need to hand finish that. I’m not too fond of the stitches to show on the binding. And today, I spent all day sewing more self-binding baby blankets, six in total. I still need to add stitching along the edge where the inside piece and outer border meet. I may opt for something simple this time, like a zigzag stitch, instead of a decorative stitch. We will see how I feel tomorrow!

Oh, I forgot to mention. We have been very concerned that our other cat (sphynx), Maggie, would be alone if Pearl takes a turn for the worse. We got a new kitten, another sphynx, two weeks ago. I have a lot on my plate! Getting him acclimated and Maggie adjusted to a new brother has taken precedence. So far, so good! They are playing together and seem to be getting used to each other swimmingly.

So, while this is an incredibly short blog, and I do not want to completely disappoint you with no photos, I will share pix of my current projects progress and my beautiful sphynx cats!
